Job Title: Technical Instructor

Department: Computer Technology

Section: Microsoft

Reports to: Microsoft Section Lead Instructor

Job Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to provide computer training to TTA students in the Microsoft Section in accordance with TTA policies and procedures. This involves designing and delivering appropriate curriculum, classroom facilitation, assuring training needs are met, facilitating labs to simulate real world situations, scheduling and maintaining student records, and working with Section Lead and other Instructors as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop materials and conduct training using knowledge of instructional technology, principles, practices, techniques, and expertise with specific microcomputer hardware and software in order to train TTA students in computer concepts, design, design, installation, networking, troubleshooting, repair, and other computer training as assigned.
  2. Develop homework and computer laboratory activities to meet course requirements, TTA hands-on requirements and that simulate real world scenarios and situations.
  3. Evaluate student training needs and discuss with staff and management to determine best use of resources in meeting Microsoft course requirements. This includes formulating learning objectives and means of accomplishing them.
  4. Complete required student documentation including student attendance, daily grades, and progress reports, provides input on contracts, and prepares periodic written reports as required.
  5. Test development and preparation for quizzes, mid-terms, and finals. Test administration assuring fair and objective delivery. Test documentation in timely and thorough manner.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Establish professional contacts and forge alliances with subject matter experts and training specialists to promote continuous improvement.
  2. Earn 8 Continuing Education Units (CEU) per calendar year relevant to assigned section or instructional aides.
  3. Ensure proper safety and conduct policies are followed in classrooms.

Budgetary Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure effective use of tools and equipment provided to TTA students as part of the courseware.
  2. Ensure preservation of lab equipment during practical application labs.

Public/Professional Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver presentations at conferences and forums and provide professional assistance to community entities as directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and/or Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA).
  2. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) at current operating system level with specific knowledge of Microsoft's operating systems and networking procedures.
  3. Specific knowledge of computer hardware used in business and home requirements.
  4. Five years of relevant experience as an IT professional.
  5. Three years of instructing experience in classroom environment.

Preferred:

  1. Classroom instruction and laboratory facilitation experience.
  2. Curriculum and exercise development.
  3. Certified in all CompTIA and Microsoft courses offered by TTA including all courses assigned to teach as a minimum requirement.
